Abstract
Objectives : This study was designed to make comparison among the scores from Mini-Mental State Examination-Korean Version (MMSE-K) for cognitive ability assessment and the score from Modified Barthel Index (MBI) and Hand strength for function independence assessment, the score from Dynamometer for hand strength.

Methods : Recording was performed on stroke patients by their ages, Hand Strength, MMSE-K and MBI based on the case study at the time treatment.

Results : The analytic results turned out as follows. Firstly, there was statistically a significant difference between MMSE-K and MBI. Secondly, there was no significant difference between MBI and hand strength as to the score correlation. Thirdly, taking a look at the analytic correlation between MMSE-K and MBI, there was a significant correlation with the significance level of p< .05 with r=.473. This means the functioning level in daily life activity become high as the cognitive function increases.

Conclusion : The findings in the study showed the significant difference statistically in the categories of cognitive function only according to the score review over the activities of daily living in stroke patients by their cognitive function and the hand strength. It was found also that there was some correlative relation, and thanks to this, the occupational therapy intervention can oriented. With a focus on the cognitive function enhancement and the activities of daily living training for occupational therapy, this would help the stroke patients with their functional recovery a great deal.
